The specimen is placed on the stage so that the various aspects can be studied and examined. Stage: The stage is a flat and rectangular plate attached to the lower end of the arm.It serves to support the microscope’s head and is also used to transport the microscope. Arm: This is the portion of the microscope that connects the base to the head and the eyepiece tube to the base.Pillar: A compound microscopes pillar is a modest, strong vertical projection that emerges from the foot or base.All of the other components of the compound microscope are supported by it. Base: It’s the horseshoe-shaped base structure of microscope. Compound microscope mechanical parts (Microscope Diagram: 2) include base or foot, pillar, arm, inclination joint, stage, clips, diaphragm, body tube, nose piece, coarse adjustment knob and fine adjustment knob.
